The Great Rift Valley of Kenya offers a unique terroir that contributes to the distinctive character of Leleshwa wines. With its high altitude, volcanic soils, and consistent climate, the Rift Valley provides ideal conditions for growing quality wine grapes.
At elevations between 1,800 and 2,100 meters above sea level, our vineyards benefit from warm days and cool nights, allowing grapes to develop complex flavors while maintaining good acidity. The region's volcanic soils are rich in minerals, providing excellent drainage and imparting unique mineral notes to our wines.
Unlike many wine regions that experience four distinct seasons, the Rift Valley enjoys relatively consistent temperatures year-round, with variations primarily between day and night rather than between seasons. This consistency allows for multiple harvests per year, giving our winemakers more opportunities to craft exceptional wines.
The combination of these factors results in wines with bright fruit flavors, good structure, and a distinctive character that truly represents the Kenyan terroir.
